Vernissage am 15. April: Simone Fattal im Robert Walser-Zentrum

The opening of the exhibition Simone Fattal. Walk I, II, III will take place on 15 April 2025, 6 - 8 pm at the Robert Walser Centre. (2nd floor)

Jacqueline Burckhardt will speak, Simone Fattal will be present.

Simone Fattal, who was born in Damascus in 1942 and grew up in Beirut, now lives mainly in Paris after years in California. She says of Robert Walser that it is “impossible to read him and then forget him or not be deeply moved and shaken by him”. The three works Walk I, Walk II and Walk III were created in 2020 immediately after reading Carl Seelig's book Walks with Robert Walser. She impulsively applies the paint directly from the tube onto the canvas. Simone Fattal understands the walks, hikes and excursions as small getaways, as “escapes”, as running away from the confinement in which Robert Walser was trapped - rituals, repetitions, self-awareness, insights into people's everyday lives, trains of thought, introspection, moments of togetherness and tranquillity.
