The Robert Walser Library / Robert Walser Exhibition

Opening Hours:

Wednesday: 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Thursday: 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Friday: 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Admission to the library and the exhibitions is free during opening hours.

In 2026, the Robert Walser Center will be closed on the following dates:

3 April (Good Friday)
6 April (Easter Monday)
1 May (Labor Day)
14 May (Ascension Day)
25 May (Whit Sunday)
1 August (national holiday)
24 December until 4 January 2027 (Annual Holiday)

The Robert Walser Archive

The documents and materials at the Robert Walser Archive can be viewed in a reading room equipped with temporary workstations. Those wishing to consult the Archive and use the workstations are required to submit an appointment request at least two weeks before the desired date (contact).

Due to internal development work, individual holdings may temporarily not be open to the public.

Opening Hours:

The Robert Walser Archive is open by appointment Monday through Friday. There is no charge for using the archives.

Guided Tours

The Robert Walser Centre offers conversations and guided tours for groups of up to 25 people, both during and outside opening hours, by arrangement (German / English / French). Advance booking is generally required for visits outside opening hours and for guided tours (contact).

The price for a guided tour lasting approximately one hour is 250 CHF (Mon–Fri; small groups of up to 5 people: reduced rate of 125 CHF; guided tours at weekends: price by arrangement).
