“Robert Walser and his publishers”. Annual conference of the Robert Walser Society, 23–25 October 2026, Marbach (in German)

The annual conference in Marbach examines the complex relationship between Robert Walser and the publishers who shaped his work. It explores how these collaborations helped to shape Walser’s voice and the role publishers continue to play in the preservation and discovery of his work to this day.

The conference begins on Friday, 23 October, with a guided tour of the Marbach Literary Archive, focusing on the publishers’ archives.

On Saturday, 24 October, the programme continues with fascinating lectures and a panel discussion.

The event concludes on Sunday, 25 October, with a guided tour of the Museum of Modern Literature on ‘Rilke’s Worlds’ and of the Schiller National Museum on ‘Schiller!’, the new permanent exhibition.

The annual conference is organised in collaboration with the German Literature Archive in Marbach and the Robert Walser Centre.
